Subject: Domains Cyber Squatting The process works like this: You check to see if a domain is available. It is available, but you don't buy it. Then, the next day, you have made your mind up to buy the domain. But when you go to check on it again, it is no longer available and is now for sale from a private entity. Cyber squatters are entities who "squat" on domain names and offer them for sale at prices typically starting at $2,000 or more. Clearly, they have some way of finding out which domains have been checked for availability, but not immediately registered. How do you protect yourself and your domain? Work with a local web site designer who has personal contacts at a locally based domain registration company. Have this person register the domain name for you and assist with disputes. The right domain name is often the cornerstone of a successful web site. Protect it right from the beginning. by Miyoji Productions |
